Inter IISER Sports Meet (IISM)

The first IISM was conducted in 2012 and was hosted by IISER Kolkata and included teams from IISER Kolkata, IISER Pune, IISER Bhopal, IISER TVM and IISER Mohali. Over the years, IISER Tirupati and IISER Berhampur, have joined the team. IISM has expanded further to include NISER, IISc and CEBS. The privilege to host the IISM comes on a rotation basis and is usually conducted in December each year. The excitement, frenzy, adrenalin rush and the sense of belonging and team spirit that this sporting event evokes is truly overwhelming.

Teams from 10 national institutes compete in 12 sporting events – Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Carrom and Volleyball for the Championship Trophy. The Annual Sports fest of the Institute (ITSAV) is a month long event and is usually held in September. It is one of those events that the entire IISER fraternity eagerly looks forward to each year. Students are divided into 4 groups and each group has teams competing in various sporting events – track and field, indoor games, outdoor sports, team as well as individual games. Though competition is intense for the coveted Trophy, all events are played in the true spirit of sportsmanship, upholding the ethos – “May the best team win”. Know More

Intra IISER Tournaments

Usually spread over the months of January, February and March, these tournaments record good participation from all batches of students. League matches are the norm for football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, badminton, table tennis, kho-kho, kabaddi, throwball and chess, with serious competition among the different teams.
