Inter IISER Sports Meet (IISM) – 2019

Inter IISER sports meet 2019 was hosted by IISER Pune from December 10th 2019 to December 14th 2019 saw the participation of 7 IISERs, NISER Bhubaneswar, IISc Bangalore, and CEBS Mumbai across 12 sports. The highlights of the main meet included gold in 4*400m relay boys, silver in 4*100m relay boys, silver in TT girls, bronze in Football girls, kho-kho girls and basketball boys, also we secured 4 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze medals in individual events. Notable individual performance came from Akshay Raj who was honoured by best athlete award in IISM 2019 

IISER Thiruvananthapuram secured 6th position overall while becoming the athletics champion. Overall points scored by IISER TVM is 3200 + 2320(athletics) = 5520. Almost all teams made the quarterfinals and narrowly missed out on proceeding to the semifinals.

  • The IISER TVM Contingent had a total strength of 135 students: including 86 boys and 49 girls.
  • The IISER TVM Contingent scored 4 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze in individual events and were champions in 4X400m relay boys.
  • And first runner up in 4x100m relay boys,4x100m relay girls and TT girls singles and second runner up in football girls, kho kho girls and basketball boys.

ITSAV

IISER Thiruvananthapuram’s annual sports fest (ITSAV) was planned to be conducted over a span of one month starting from 22 August 2019. Students were divided into 4 groups (Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, Emerald). Following students from batch-16 were the captains of each group.

  • Ruby- Keshav Singh and Snehal Neware, 
  • Emerald- Aman Rastogi and Anagha Sivadas, 
  • Diamond- Rithwik P Nambiar and Sreya N and 
  • Sapphire- Sanjay Sunny and Tina Jacob. 

We planned to conduct 11 games in the form of a tournament but due to adverse weather conditions and lack of availability of courts/grounds, only indoor games like basketball, badminton, table-tennis and chess were conducted as part of ITSAV.
